1 Corinthians 2:1-10) nkjv And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

❓ Have you ever struggled to accept a biblical truth because it conflicted with your own understanding or desires?

❓ In what areas of your life do you rely more on your own abilities than on the power of the Holy Spirit?

➤💥By these verses we see how important it is for us to grow and mature spiritually in this life.

👉”The wisest person is not the one who knows the most, but the one who follows the Holy Spirit the closest." 👈

v4-6) So that our faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
- So that we can be used of God and not waste our time on things that are of no value or importance to God! v5)6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing
So our lives can demonstrate the faith and power of God.v4) 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
But to get to where we need to be is not the path that the majority of this world teaches us to take.

➤ While many may excel and acquire much human wisdom and knowledge about Christ from a human level, I believe we can still end up like the disciples before the coming of the Holy Spirit.

👉 "Many seek knowledge about God; the Holy Spirit leads us into knowing God Himself." 👈

⭐ They spent vast amounts of time with Jesus and were taught many things by Him but still remained in the dark.

💥 Jesus taught them as much as He could by human wisdom and reasoning.

➤ But they still remained limited. vJohn 16:12–13) "I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now... when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth."

➤ They depended on their own intellect and reasoning to understand. vActs 1:6) "Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom again to Israel?"

➤ They didn’t understand what He meant. vMark(;30-32) But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

➤ They didn’t understand His will. v Luke 9: 46-48) Immediately after Jesus predicted His death, the disciples argued over who would be the greatest in His kingdom.

The direction He wanted them to go - His will for the world and His kingdom. - The positions He wanted them to have

➤ The truths He wanted them to share: “continue in my Word.” v John 8:31-32)

By these verses we see that all humans, from the least to the greatest, are still limited in how far we can go in our earthly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of God. v9) Eye hasn’t seen what God has prepared for those who love Him.

➤ This limitation isn’t only found among the laity of this world but also found among all spiritual leaders as well. Preachers, teachers, seminaries, books, etc.

💥 To remain limited in the wisdom of this world is to be vulnerable to:

Having itching ears. 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers
Having limited wisdom 1 Corinthians 2:9 ) “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
Not having a fully developed faith. v5) 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
Being limited in our knowledge of the things of Godv12) 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
Not doing the things that are important to God. (they wouldn’t have done what mankind thought was right. v8) 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Not knowing the things God freely gives us. Things we feel we can’t have v12) 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.
Not having a transformed mind. The mind of Christ. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

💥 What happens if we go beyond our worldly understanding and wisdom?

A. Our teaching and sharing the Word will carry the demonstration of the Spirit and power. v4)

B. Change people's (faith) hearts and minds. v5)

C. We will mature spiritually. (Remain looking foolish and ignorant to those that are full of worldly knowledge) v6)

D. We will learn to be taught and led by the voice of God v10) 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit.

E. We will know and understand the deep things of God. v10) For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

What does this teach?

I. Not to let our pride get in the way of God’s wisdom when sharing our faith! v1-5)

Paul was determined not to let his pride close him off to God!

> Pride trusts in human ability instead of God’s power. > Paul's choice of God-dependence over self-confidence.

Pride wants to impress others. I did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom
I was determined to know nothing except Jesus Christ and Him being crucified.
- The cross leaves no room for boasting.

> Pride seeks human persuasion - Humility relies on the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

II, Know the simple! The basics. Know the Word. v2) 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

👉 ****) Human wisdom can explain many things, but only the Holy Spirit can reveal the heart of God." (****👈

The simplicity of the Word. John 8:31-32) Continue in His Word and you shall know the truth!
The Spirit uses the Word to demonstrate His presence and power. v4)

III. What God gives us. v12) 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.

v9) God reveals His hidden mysteries. What we can only learn by sitting at His feet and listening to His Words! The Holy Spirit and the Word alone.
We mature spiritually v6) While others think we know nothing and are foolish.
We walk a different path. v8) Keeps us on the right path. Doing the right things. Showing us the things that are to come.
We begin to learn the deep things of God! Not about more knowledge but about knowing God better. When you understand God everything else makes sense.
Simple, freeing, revealing,
