You Shall Have Power Part 7 6/22/2025

1 Corinthians 2:1-5  nkjv1 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

❓What is the evidence of you having the Holy Spirit within you❓ How does the Holy Spirit give you power to be the testimony for God?

➡️⭐    We could not get away from the teachings of the Holy Spirit without visiting the issue of having, “Evidence of the Holy Spirit.”

⭐  Surprising that what most people say “The” evidence of the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, Paul doesn’t even mention the speaking of tongues in these verses.

  • Where tongues is mentioned as an evidence of having the Spirit in Mark 16:15-18) And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

➤    To say tongues is a “proof” then so would be “Snake handling”, Drinking poison, Healing every time you pray for people.

  • Acts 10: 44-46) As a sign of the Holy Spirit.  44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God.
    • The gift was the Holy Spirit (Not tongues) Because they heard them speak in tongues. (Not faking it)
  • Acts 2:38-39)  The gift is the Holy Spirit, NOT tongues.    38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”

⭐  WHAT IS “THE EVIDENCE” of the Holy Spirit in these verses?1.    Not being divided!  1 Corinthians 1:10-13) 10 Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment. 11 For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you. 12 Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” 13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

  • 1 Corinthians 3:3-4)   3 And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 3 for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? 4 For when one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not carnal?

2.    Learning from the Scripture:  1 Corinthians 2:2-5)  2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.

  • Paul didn’t come teaching from his latest book.
  • Or from the words taught by others.  He came to teach from the Word of God!

A.   Evidence of the Holy Spirit.  Keeping the commandments of God.    John 14:15-18) If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

  • People who have the Holy Spirit are the people that a.) Love God b.) Know the Word.
  • c.) Keep His commandments!!

  • There is a difference between being Spirit taught and book taught.

💥 1 Corinthians 2:4-10)  4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God. 6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. 9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

  • 💥💥 Spiritual people are not measured by their knowledge but by the demonstration of their walk in the Word of God and the power they are given to obey!
    • Becoming new creations in Christ.
    • Demonstrating the power of God to be transformed and made new.

➤  1 Corinthians 1:18-19) 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 19 For it is written:“I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, And bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”💥  These were things that people were doing to the teachings of Paul.  (He was included in the group of people that others were trying to follow)

➤  Having the Spirit is not about tongues only (outward appearance), but mainly about -Walking in the Spirit as a learning process of walking in the obedience of Christ.

  • Having a faith built not on books or what we’ve learned from the wisdom of people but the power that we draw from the Holy Spirit to walk with Christ through life.

3.   Loving one another! Demonstrating God’s Love.  Carnal divisions are not a demonstration of the love of Christ. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3) 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.➤   John 13:35)  All people will know you are mine by the tongues you speak???34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  Love you have for one another. (The power of God’s love in demonstration)

👉  It is possible to speak in tongues - understand all mysteries - have faith to remove mountains - give your body to be burned, but still be profited nothing! 1 Corinthians 13

👉  It has been said, “There is only one proof of the Holy Spirit in your life and that’s a holy life!”  But Biblically it saysThere is only one proof of the Holy Spirit and that’s how God’s love separates you from the worldly love of humanity. 👈

Powerful Biblical evidences of having the Holy Spirit.
