You Shall Have Power Part 4 5/18/2025

Acts 1:4-5  nkjv4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”       ❓How has the Holy Spirit empowered you to be a witness for Him ❓⭐   When we hear about people being filled with the Holy Spirit, we hear about all kinds of unusual and strange things that happen.    ➣  The day of Pentecost was similar.Acts 2:1-4  When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. 

💥    This was their experience on the day of Pentecost.  

• But last week we shared at least 7 other experiences where the Holy Spirit, “Fell on people”, and they all had different experiences.

💥    Not one of them were exactly the same. ⇨    Not all spoke with tongues. ⇨ Danced in the streets ⇨ Heard mighty rushing winds or ⇨ had cloven tongues of fire land upon them.

• But they were filled with the Holy Spirit just the same!
  • They all received the real deal!

⭐⭐💥 It was important for them to receive the Holy Spirit that Jesus had told them was coming. 1.   Luke 24:49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”   ➣  Power they could not have without Him 2.   Acts 2:4b)  ➣  The Spirit Jesus told them about.   wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 

👉   💥  What Jesus told them about the Holy Spirit.⭐  It was about WHAT THEY RECEIVED and never about HOW!

1.    Power to Be Witnesses.  Acts 1:8) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”It’s the power Jesus wanted them to receive and have!!!!

• They would receive a power they didn’t have and couldn’t have without the Holy Spirit.
• Become witnesses.  Testimonies for Christ.  Live the life.

➣   Empowers us with God power.  Mark 16:17-18 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” ➣  “FOLLOW”. Those who believe.  Obey.  Walk with God. Do His will and ministry.👉 ****) Trying to do the Lord's work in your own strength is the most confusing, exhausting, and tedious of all work. But when you are filled with the Holy Spirit, then the ministry of Jesus just flows out of you.  (****👈 Corrie Ten Boom

2.  How Jesus speaks to us.  John 16:12-16 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.A.   He will speak to our heart “,,,,,, He will speak, and he will declare to you,,,”  B.   GUIDES US.  Show us decisions to make about what we need to do.  Guides us for the future.  

• We say I’m being led to do this or that.

3.   He shows us how to use the Word in today's world! John 14:26  26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

• Shows us how to apply God’s Word to today's world.  Teaches us how to live by the Word.

4.   Know things that the world cannot know or understand.  John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. ➣  Power to know things the world cannot know.  Call us names. Fools.➣   Even if Christians are not careful, we can fall into the trap of listening to ourselves and others more than God!A.   ➣  What the world cannot know or see.1 Corinthians 2:9-10)   9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

• See, hear, and know things that only God can show us.

B.   ➣  Faith and belief that rests in the power of God, not the wisdom of men.1 Corinthians 2:4-5   4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

5.   A power that changes our mind and life. ➣ John 16:12-13)  12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. ➣ John 8:31)  31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

➣ Romans 12: 2) 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

• Teaches us the truth that transforms us to walk in God’s will.

Know the truth of God God’s Word that has the power to make us free.To receive:1.  ASK     Luke 11:13  13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

2.  WAIT   Let it happen the way God wants it to happen to you.  All at once or gradually.  But it will happen and you will know it.  John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.

• Because your experience is different from others doesn’t mean that you don’t have the Holy Spirit. (People will argue this)

3.  Don’t quench the Spirit!   Let Him manifest Himself in and through you!  Learn to listen, believe and follow.

• The signs that follow those who believe.  God’s power and witnessing.
