You Shall Have Power Part 3 5/10/2025

Acts 1:4-8  nkjv4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

❓ When did you receive the Holy Spirit?   How has the Holy Spirit empowered you since you received Him

⭐  I want us to again see this fact about the Holy Spirit.  1.   Jesus commanded that the disciples not depart until they received power.➣   What more did they need?  A.   Jesus Himself had taught them. Salvation - Faith - Love - How to love God and each other. B.   They saw Him heal the sick, open the eyes of the blind, feed the 5,000. C.   What He had empowered them to do as well.  Preach, heal, take authority over demons, and raise the dead.D.   The step beyond salvation.E.   What we do after we are saved

2.   They were to wait on the Spirit, “He told them about.” Not the twisted ideas of humanity.Simon in Acts 8:  Wanted to make money off the Holy Spirit.   Acts 8:17-20)17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit. 18 And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”20 But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

3.   Shall become His witnesses.  ( a witness (one who can affirm, what he himself has seen or heard or knows by any other means);  one who is a spectator of a contest.  One who testifies for another; to be a witness for one, serve him by testimony. The faithful interpreters of God's counsels are called God's witnesses: 👉   Make the world know that Jesus is alive and who HE SAYS HE IS. Savior of the world  1.   Their words would have the power to change hearts and minds that would save souls.💥  Take what Jesus gave them and empower it with the truth to set people free!!!!!1.   From spiritual death2.   From sin, lies and bondage.3.   Make them new creations in Christ.  Not just new minds, but new heart and spirit. 4.  Give them new purpose, direction and meaning! To knowing the purposes of God.  Acts 1:6)  They still didn’t know.  The power to keep them focused.

⭐⭐ Amid all the talk and teachings about how people receive (are baptized in) the Holy Spirit, this is what the Scripture says happened.   Important to know that the experience of being born again and FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT was different at times. ⭐  It was important that they were born again AND FILLED - not how!

⭐  1 Day of Pentecost: Upper Room -- Had been waiting and praying for days!   Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.Act 2:3     Cloven tongues of fire.  Fulfillment of John the Baptist. Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.   All happened at once.  But the tongues were in the form of human languages.  Act 2:4     Tongues  ( As the Spirit gave them utterance.)  Act 2:11   Spoke human languages.Acts 2: 1-122 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”>   Fire, spoke in tongues (human language)

⭐  2.  People on the streets who came out to see what was happening.  All at once! Got it all Acts 2:38-4138 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.>  Repented, believed, and received the Holy Spirit. All at once.

⭐  3. Samaritans and Philip   Repented, believed, were baptised and later received the Holy Spirit.Acts 8:9-17    Acts 8:9-17But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, 10 to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” 11 And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. 12 But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized. 13 Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.14 Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, 15 who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit. 16 For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.  > ? No tongues? But laid hands on them!    He had not yet fallen.   Believed, was baptised and later filled with the Spirit.

⭐  4.  The Ethiopian and Philip  No tongues, Spirit present and caught Philip away.   Listened and heard the gospel. Repented, believed, and that's all. Acts 8: 29-40)  Spirit caught Philip away  No tongues.  Believed, Baptised, Not mention of the Holy Spirit.Acts 8:29-4029 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.” 30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. 32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth. 33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.” 34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?” 35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him. 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing. 40 But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.>  The Ethiopian was baptised and saved.  No mention of tongues.  Philip was caught away in the Spirit.

⭐  5.   Paul and Ananias   Heard God and followed God before he received.  Was healed.  No tongues.Acts 9:17-19    That you might receive sight and the Holy Spirit.   He received His sight.  No tonguesGod was already speaking and talking with Him.  Before He made a (confession) and was baptised.Acts 9:17-19 17 And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” 18 Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. 19 So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.May receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

⭐  6.   Cornelius, his household and Peter.   Spoke in tongues and before confessions and baptism.  Act 10:46    Tongues.   Before a confession or was baptised. ...they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered...Acts 10: 44-48 44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. 45 And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered, 47 “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” 48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.>  They spoke in tongues, where baptized and believed.⭐  7.   Ephesus disciples:  Paul.  Rebaptized them and laid hands on them and they received.  Never heard of the Holy Spirit.Acts 19:6   People who believed and never heard of the Holy Spirit!?  Spoke in Tongues.  Laid hands on them....came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. “And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”—Acts 19:6Acts 19:1-5 And it happened, while Apollos was at Corinth, that Paul, having passed through the upper regions, came to Ephesus. And finding some disciples 2 he said to them, “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” 3 And he said to them, “Into what then were you baptized?” So they said, “Into John’s baptism.”4 Then Paul said, “John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.” 5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. 6 And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied. 7 Now the men were about twelve in all.

They believed, were baptized, hands laid on them, and spoke in tongues.

⭐  IT was about WHAT THEY RECEIVED and never about how!

Not everyone’s experience is the same!Don’t worry about what others say has to happen to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

II   Don’t criticise the testimony of others. Believe in all the gifts and what the Bible teaches us.

III   We need to receive the Spirit that Jesus told us about!!!

⭐   It’s not about what we can learn from Preachers, each other, books, etc.  It’s about what God teaches us !

⭐   We can only have the power through God to change hearts, souls, minds, and life.

⭐   We need to seek, ask, knock,!  Until we are filled with this power and know Him.

1.  They ALL receive it!  Wait until you receive power from on high. Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”   YOU WILL RECEIVE IT.I will pray for him to be sentI will send him

2.  The Spirit Jesus wants us to have. Acts 1:4) wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me;   Not the one of Simon Acts 8)It’s important for me to go away or he will not come

3.  The power that causes us to know Jesus. John 14:17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

4.  The power that speaks to us! John 14:26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.

5.  The power to show us what we cannot possibly know. 1 Corinthians 2:  9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

6.  The power that shows us how to use Jesus’ word correctly.  Not just the law! John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

7.  The power that guides us and shows us the deeper truth Jn 16:12-13) 12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 1 Corinthians 2:10  these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.

8.  The power that makes us new creations and transforms our minds and hearts. (us) 2 Corinthians 5:17) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Ezekiel 36:26-27  And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

9.  The power that helps us have power when we pray. Romans 8:26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.10.  The Spirit that gives power to worship! John 4:23)  23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
